About our events

RTK events take place on Tuesdays – every 1st, 3rd and last Tuesday of the Month. Every 3 months we create a new programme. It usually depends on our funding which events are available to Southwark and Lambeth carers. Ideally we want to offer an equal amount of events for both boroughs. As you may guess this is not always possible due to our funding restrictions. We are doing our best to attract more funding so carers in both boroughs can benefit equally from our service. Currently our main funding comes from Southwark Council, meaning we have a separate programme for Southwark carers. Lambeth carers can attend the events that are funded with The City Bridge Trust money (see programme for more details about who can attend what). Adult Carers Any 18+ Carers can attend our events. The carers attending our events come from different cultural backgrounds, as well as different caring situations. It makes it diverse and open to all.

Donations for attending We always ask for a modest donation (around £3.50) to help support our work. To give you an idea: our costs per carer are: £15 – £25 per event. PLEASE NOTE: It is not obliged to pay if you are not able to. We want to ensure easy accessibility to our events at all times.

What happens during an RTK event?

A day-event is usually structured like this:

10:30 – 11:00 Meet and Greet – tea/coffee

11:00 – 11:30 Intro session (guest speaker, relaxation exercise or sharing new, stories, poems, songs etc)

11:45 – 1:00 WORKSHOP session 1

1:00 – 1:45 Lunch (delicious home made vegitarian food)

1:45 -2:45 WORKSHOP session 2

3:00 -3:30 tea/coffe + cake – time to chat

If you can’t come all day this is no problem, we just need to know if you will be there before or after lunch.

How can I attend an RTK event?

Get the booking form – choose your events – send it back! Give us a call or send us an email and we will send you the booking-form, which you need to return to us in order to attend.

Registering with RTK – We ask all our carers to fill out a carers information form (contact details, DOB, caring situation etc.), which is updated every year. You will automatically be on our mailing list and receive the latest programme each quarter.

Feedback -

We love your feedback! We send out a quarterly feedback form and during events we have a comment book available. To make sure our service is fulfilling and to satisfy our funders we appreciate any feedback!

What happens when I’m no longer a Carer? We are looking to create more support for former carers, because our funding is restricted to supporting active-carers only. We understand that all of a sudden “not being a carer anymore” is a big change and support is crucial at this stage! Over the last year we have started to introduce an exit strategy, where carers who have become former carers can still attend RTK events for up to one year after becoming a former carer. After this we want you to think about more suitable services and we will do our best to help you find suitable alternatives. We hope you understand that when we have many people booked for an event we will always give priority to active carers (due to our funding). We want to encourage people who have been a former-carers for longer than 1 year to not sign in for more than one event in every three months until we have a service in place for former carers. We are sorry if it causes you dissappointment and please feel free to call us to discuss any worries.
